Avid Gun Tool – A Homerun All the Way Around!

Amazing… simply amazing, the 2011 Wildlife Legacy Gala was one of the most successful hunting events held in Austin.  It was a sellout crowd, and we even had to turn a few late comers away.   One of the big Gala hits was the amazing AVID Gun Tool.  I don’t want to sound too much like an infomercial but this was a homerun on the raffle table, and as an extra special appreciation gift for our diamond table sponsors.

The first all in one gun tool I have ever handled that’s both useful and more importantly complete.  One of my major challenges related to tools and travel is the pesky “star” wrench used on many gun scope rings.  The Avid gun tool has steel “star” wrenches in several sizes. It came in extremely handy in changing the Duke of Westminster’s broken scope on a gun he was using this summer buffalo hunting. The Duke is a two star general and a hunter for most of his life.  He has seen all kinds of gadgets and was impressed with the practicality of the AVID tool.   The gun tool has 18 different tools combined in one compact frame.

Using this tool, we simply swapped scopes out in a matter of a few minutes, resighted, and were off hunting before the dust from the truck settled.  Additionally, the multi function tool comes with multiple traditional allen wrenches, as well as a utility knife.  It also has a heavy duty screw driver, sized for windage knobs on scopes.  Also included is the ever useful gauge sizer as well as clever choke tube key in .410 to 10 bore.

The flip side has a handy little door where multiple screw driver heads are kept stored.  They slip into the end of the tool for use.  All and all,  this is one of the most amazing inventions, and few people have seen them.   It’s one of those “why didn’t I think of that” great tools that should go on every hunt.   AVID has been a repeated generous donor to our club and everyone winning a tool, has loved it.  This is a must have for Christmas !    http://www.theguntool.com/
